The skill manager acts as a coordinator of the excellence in skills training for international competitions. The skill manager participates in tasks of an expert in his specific trade, undertakes the communication and preparation of training with experts and trainers as well as administers the reporting and financial responsibilities in his trade.

The skill manager has not any official role in the WorldSkills or EuroSkills organization, the role concentrates on the domestic excellence in skills training for in the international competitions. The skill manager also has an expert role in the national Taitaja-competitions.
